Alumnus Unites Interests Through Integrated Business and Engineering Program

A passionate Big Orange fan with a mother and older sister who graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Linden Hardee’s college preference was never in doubt. The Brentwood native’s major, however, was more complicated. An initial plan to major in engineering was upended by his realization of a passion for business, particularly accounting. A quick switch of majors ensued. Thankfully, he discovered the Heath Integrated Business and Engineering Program (IBEP).

Finance Alum’s Memoir Aims to Help Youngsters Overcome Bullying

Bullying is a common issue that can have lasting, traumatic effects. One University of Tennessee, Knoxville alumnus is using his own experiences of dealing with bullies to help others who face similar problems.

When Haslam College of Business senior management major Kaleb Winders and his girlfriend, Jordan Jones, attended a professional football game in 2017, he unknowingly changed the course of his academic career.

“My parents convinced me to continue my education, but I really began to feel at home during college when I started my entrepreneurship classes my sophomore year,” said Winders.

Winders had dreamed of building his own business, and, like many entrepreneurially minded students, instantly saw a problem as an opportunity to provide a solution.

Sherri (Haslam College of Business, ‘90) and Jeff Robinson (College of Arts & Sciences, ‘88) have found that risk can lead to life-changing rewards.

“We literally met on a rappelling tower,” said Sherri, describing her initial encounter with Jeff while they were students at the University of Tennessee.
