Business Analytics: A New Path for Women Who Like Math

Missy BowersResearch has well-established that women are underrepresented in STEM careers, holding fewer than a quarter of positions within these fields despite ample evidence that their aptitude for science and math matches, and in some ways exceeds, the opposite sex. Culture is the culprit discouraging women from STEM industries, and its influence can even impact the career choices of women who do choose to pursue their passions in math and science.

Instead of being presented with the entire spectrum of STEM careers, women are often relegated to engineering by teachers and guidance councilors because of its established reputation.
