Emerging Leaders Module 3

Today’s leaders face a unique set of internal and external challenges. Internally, organizations face pressure to do more with less, ever striving for greater efficiencies in value creation activities. Externally, demographic and competitive shifts have made it increasingly difficult to attract, motivate, and retain quality employees. All managers must be an extension of the HR department if an organization is going to attract and retain the talent needed to win in the marketplace.

Talent Management Strategies and Solutions, or HR for Non-HR Managers, focuses on processes and tools leaders can use to create and sustain a climate of excellence. First, we’ll look at attraction or recruiting strategies organizations can use to develop and maintain desirable identities to potential applicants.  Second, we look at how staffing and selection can be used effectively to identify high potential employees.  Third, we will evaluate how to socialize and mentor new hires to maximize their performance and retention prospects.  Next, we will address the sometimes thorny issues of performance reviews and how to handle or avoid sensitive situations. Finally, we will explore best practices for accountability, performance evaluation and retention.
