Bruce Behn

Bruce K. Behn, CPA is the Deloitte LLP Professor at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville Haslam College of Business. He joined the Department of Accounting and Information Management in 1994 and served in a number of capacities over the years within the department (including Department Head) and the college. Behn worked for Rockwell International in Uithoorn, The Netherlands as the international financial coordinator for Allen-Bradley Europa B.V., Allen-Bradley Company as controller and financial analyst and KPMG Peat Marwick as senior auditor. He is currently on the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants Board (AICPA), chair of the Accounting Hall of Fame Committee, Vice-Chair of the AACSB Accounting Accreditation Policy Committee and is a Council Member for the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He recently was on the International Accounting Education Standards Board (and Transition Advisory Group) and chaired the Pathways Commission. Behn is a past President of the American Accounting Association (AAA), the International Accounting Section (AAA) and the Federation of Schools of Accountancy (FSA), as well as the past chair of the AICPA’s Pre-certification Education Executive Committee. Behn has also been the recipient of a number of honors including the AAA’s Innovation in Accounting Education award, UT’s Alumni Outstanding Teaching award, AICPA’s Special Recognition award, FSA/Joseph A. Silvoso Faculty Merit award, AAA (IAS Section) Outstanding International Accounting Educator award and the Tennessee Society of CPAs Outstanding Educator award.
