James Chyz joined UT’s Department of Accounting and Information Management in 2010 after receiving his Ph.D. in accounting from the University of Arizona. James holds a B.A. in Anthropology from Yale University, and a MAC from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Prior to obtaining his Ph.D., James worked as a Tax Senior with Grant Thornton, LLP in Albuquerque, NM. His research, which has been published in The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting and Economics, and Journal of Financial Economics, examines the causes and consequences of corporate tax policy choices and the effect of taxes and accounting information on asset prices, and investing and financial reporting decisions. James teaches valuation to graduate students and a capital markets research seminar to Ph.D. students.
