James Cody is a retired Air Force Colonel with 25 years of military experience. He currently serves as the Director of the Aerospace and Defense Executive Program for Graduate and Executive Education.

James holds a Master of Military Art & Science from the School of Advanced Operational Art Studies; a Master of Airpower Art & Science from the School of Advanced Airpower Studies; a Master of Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University; a Bachelor of Science, Business and MBA from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

James is an instructor in strategic planning, problem solving and decision making, lean, and change management. Prior to his academic career, James served as the Special Assistant to the Director, Joint Staff where he led continuous process improvement teams and executed quadrennial defense review directed transformation enterprise-wide. As a direct military advisor to the Secretary of the Air Force, he directed daily operations of the Secretary’s immediate and extended staffs. Prior to these roles, James served as an F-16 Fighter Squadron Commander, ensuring the squadron was prepared to deploy worldwide, as well as being responsible for unit welfare, discipline and morale.
