Professor Randall L. (Randy) Rose joined the faculty of the Haslam College of Business in 2016. He formerly served as Professor of Marketing, Marketing Department Chair, and Executive Director for Doctoral Programs for the University of South Carolina’s Moore School of Business faculty. Prior to being awarded his PhD in Marketing by The Ohio State University in 1986, he completed a BA in Anthropology and an MBA at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Rose’s research on comparative advertising, social and cultural influences on consumers’ decisions and practices, and various consumer welfare issues such as credit card practices and illicit consumption has been published in most of the top marketing journals including the Journal of Marketing, the Journal of Consumer Research, the Journal of Marketing Research, the Journal of Advertising, the Journal of Retailing, and the Journal of Public Policy & Marketing. He currently serves on the Editorial Review Boards for the Journal of Consumer Research, and formerly served on the ERB of the Journal of Public Policy and Marketing and Social Influence. He co-chaired the 2003 American Marketing Association Summer Educators’ Conference. While Rose has taught a wide variety of courses, but he most often will be found in consumer behavior courses at the undergraduate, masters, and doctoral levels and marketing research courses at the undergraduate level.

Prior to entering academia, Rose served in the US Army in Germany and worked in the retail and pulp/paper industries. He is the proud father of three children and grandfather to two grandchildren.
