This summer, school students from across the United States will be invited to participate in the third annual Supply Chain Management (SCM) Summer Camp, which runs from July 13–18 at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
The six-day camp is organized in partnership with the Haslam College of Businesses’ Office of Access and Community Connections and aims to introduce rising high school juniors and seniors to the dynamic world of supply chain management.

“My experience during the program was everything I needed to confirm UT was where I wanted to be,” said Sophia Torres-Colon, who attended the inaugural camp while a student at Kirkwood High School in Clarksville, Tennessee, in 2023. She is now a first-year supply chain management student at UT.
Torres-Colon enjoyed the lectures by UT’s expert faculty, including Sarah Hsu explaining procurement and negotiation, Justin Kistler discussing manufacturing, and Alex Scott and Yemisi Bolumole presenting on transportation and distribution. Her group also participated in site visits to local Supply Chain Forum partners Axle Logistics, Clayton Homes, and PepsiCo.
“Participating in the program opened my eyes to all the opportunities that are available in the supply chain,” she said.
In July, students will gain hands-on learning experience with university faculty, interact through team-building sessions, engage in college readiness workshops with Haslam College of Business staff, and visit leading businesses in the area to learn from professionals in the discipline.
“I recommend the camp to anyone interested in supply chain,” Torres-Colon said. “It puts you right in the middle of everything. And even though the focus is on SCM, it also shows you what Rocky Top is like as a home away from home.”
Applications for interested students are due on March 31, 2025.
