Bursaries

Five PhD students will receive a bursary to attend the IPSERA doctoral seminar and conference (5x €750). The bursaries are aimed particularly at supporting students of limited means attending the 2021 IPSERA Conference in Knoxville.

Bursary Application

A number of criteria are considered to judge bursary applications on a need and merit basis, including:

  • Applicant without alternative funding to attend IPSERA
  • Applicant from a developing country
  • Applicant from a country under-represented at IPSERA
  • Applicant is PhD student early in their studies
  • Applicant accepted for doctoral workshop
  • Applicant presenting paper at conference
  • Applicant has not received bursary before
  • Applicant’s paper is on an interesting and current research topic

All applications will be treated confidentially. The deadline for application for these bursaries is January 2, 2021, midnight, Central European Time. We will communicate our decisions to all applicants on January 22, 2021. We look forward to receiving numerous proposals.

We particularly are grateful to Mario Raffa and to CIPS for each sponsoring a conference bursary each year. The other three conference bursaries are made available from IPSERA funds.

NEVI Zorg PhD Bursary for PhD Dealing with Procurement in the Healthcare Sector

The conference provides one additional bursary, sponsored by NEVI Zorg, for students who want to attend at least the IPSERA doctoral seminar (€200 per bursary). Their research topic should deal with procurement in the healthcare sector, care sector (elderly people and people with disabilities) or procurement and/or sourcing for humanitarian supply chains.

Rebecca Arkader PhD Bursary for Latin America

We are proud to present the Rebecca Arkader PhD Bursary for Latin America, sponsored by Diagma. Established in 2019, it supports PhD researchers to attend the IPSERA Annual Conference and the Doctoral Workshop. Applications for the 2021 conference in Knoxville are open until January 2, 2021. African Scholar Bursary

The African Scholar Bursary of €1000 was established with the generous support of Hannie Badenhorst-Weiss, conference host of IPSERA 2014 in Pretoria, South Africa. It is dedicated exclusively to promote and facilitate African scholars (with their main affiliation on the African continent) attending the IPSERA conference. To apply for this dedicated bursary, please use the bursary application form and submit it via email to Antonella Maria Moretto.

Reduced IPSERA Conference Fee for PhD Students

Each year, IPSERA offers a reduced conference fee of €200 to 25 PhD students. To apply for the reduced fee to attend the 2021 IPSERA conference in Knoxville, please use the bursary application form and submit it via email to Antonella Maria Moretto.

Dissertation Awards

IPSERA is awarding the best PhD thesis in purchasing and supply management for students who graduated in 2019. The application must include:

  • Proof the dissertation was completed in 2019
  • Maximum four-page summary (single-spaced) of your work, indicating:
    • Its practical and scholarly contribution
    • Any spin-off journal publications

Your application will be evaluated by the IPSERA Doctoral Dissertation Award 2021 awarding committee, which is made up of these six experienced PSM scholars:
