Admissions
Applications for the MSM&HR are submitted through the University of Tennessee’s Graduate School. However, Haslam has application requirements specific to the MSM&HR.
Requirements
Resume, Recommendations & Personal Statement:
All applicants must submit:
- a current resume
- a minimum of 2 recommendations, one of which must be from a current/past supervisor
- a personal statement describing interest and fit within the program as well as career goals and ambitions.
GMAT/GRE:
Applicants to the Management and Human Resources Master of Science degree program are encouraged to submit a valid (not older than five years) GRE or GMAT score as part of the application process. Additionally, the program admissions committee reserves the right to request that the applicant take the GRE or GMAT if more information about academic potential (including writing, analytical thinking and quantitative abilities) is needed after the admissions file is reviewed. There are no specific course prerequisites for admission; however, it is recommended that nonbusiness undergraduates take an introductory course in accounting, finance, Excel and statistics prior to entry.
English Language Proficiency:
For applicants whose native language is not English, the TOEFL or the IELTS test is required. Scores must be provided directly by ETS (Educational Testing Service) to the UT Office of Graduate Studies. The MSM&HR requires a minimum score of 600 or 100 on the IBT (minimum of 25 in each category) for the TOEFL or 7.5 for the IELTS. Scores are valid for two years.
Tuition & Financial Aid
U.S. News & World Report recently ranked the University of Tennessee among the top 10 best buys in higher education. Forbes also ranked Knoxville as having the second-lowest cost of living in all U.S. cities. An up-to-date tuition and fees schedule for in and out of state students can be found on UT’s Graduate School website.
Tuition and fees listed on the graduate school’s website do not include room, board, books, supplies, or other living expenses. In addition to these costs, students admitted to Haslam’s MSM&HR program will be responsible for a $4,500 program fee ($1,500 per semester for the first three semesters of enrollment; students with tuition waivers will still be responsible for this program fee).
