Lisa Beeler is a 3rd year doctoral candidate. Her research leverages mixed method approaches that most appropriately investigate strategic marketing in two substantive areas, personal selling/sales management and cross-functional integration. Lisa has four years experience working as a business-to-business National Marketing and Sales Director in both goods and services industries. Her teaching experience includes five semesters as an instructor in consumer behavior or strategic integration of marketing and supply chain management.
Vince Castillo is a PhD Candidate in Supply Chain Management at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. His research interests include omnichannel distribution, urban delivery, sharing economy, and sustainability topics within the logistics and supply chain management domain. Vince’s research has been accepted for publication at the Journal of Business Logistics and has been presented at the Council of Supply Chain Management, Decision Sciences Institute, and Western Decision Sciences Institute annual conferences. In addition to those organizations, Vince is also a member of the Academy of Management and The PhD Project.
Prior to enrolling at UTK in 2014, he earned an MBA at the University of San Diego with emphasis on Supply Chain Management and Finance. Vince also served eight years as an infantry officer in the California Army National Guard including one tour of duty in Iraq. His corporate experience spans logistics, procurement, manufacturing, customer and supplier relationship management, and engineering. Vince also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines (2006).
Li Cheng is a doctoral student in the Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Prior to joining the Ph.D. Program in 2015, Li got a Master degree of Business in Logistics Engineering from the Ohio State University and two years’ doctoral experience at the Department of Supply Chain and Information Systems from Pennsylvania State University. Li holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Logistics Management from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics.

Yu Jade Chu
Yu Jade Chu is a doctoral student in the Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Prior to joining the Ph.D. Program in 2017, Jade got a Master of Business Administration from Sam M. Walton School of Business, University of Arkansas. Jade holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Logistics Management from the Ocean University of China.
Adam (MBA, University of Dallas; BS, Texas Christian University) is a fourth-year Marketing PhD Candidate at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Previously, he worked as the Program Director for a teacher certification program and also as the Director of Account Management for Rentping Media. He currently sits on the Advisory Board for the athletic apparel company, Compete Every Day. His research interests primarily focus on customer-frontline employee interactions, sales strategy, salesperson stressors, and buyer/seller relationships.
Matthew Jenkins is a Doctoral Candidate in Supply Chain Management at the Haslam College of Business, University of Tennessee. His primary research interests concern strategic adaptive supply chain capabilities, with a focus on adaptation of supply chain strategy and operations in emerging markets. Prior to pursuing his PhD, Matt’s professional career involved 2 years at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory / Department of Energy managing database systems to support environmental science research. His background also consists of 3 years at Pfizer Inc., where he led the development of business intelligence systems for North American Logistics, 5 years at Siemens Medical Solutions, where he directed all purchasing, logistics, and materials management operations associated with global radiopharmaceutical production, and 2 years at ABT Molecular Imaging, where he commercialized the global supply chain for medical equipment and sterile medical product distribution.Read more
Riley T. Krotz is a current second-year Marketing Ph.D. student at the University of Tennessee. Riley received his B.S. in Biomedical Science from the University of North Florida in 2014 where his research concerning marine mammal endocrinology has appeared in the Journal of Functional Ecology. Riley earned an MBA and was a Coggin Fellow at UNF where his marketing policy research has appeared through the American Antitrust Institute, and this research has led to a book publication entitled Resale Price Maintenance After Leegin: The Curious Case of Contact Lenses. Riley has received numerous grants and awards for his teaching including the PowerUp JAX Innovation Grant and the Innovation in Education Award.Read more
Na Young is a doctoral candidate in the Marketing and Supply Chain Management program at The University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Her research interests focus on the influence of frontline employees and customer interface on customers’ experience. She has published in leading marketing journals including the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science and Marketing Letters. Prior to joining the doctoral program, she worked as a product and brand manager at renowned global companies such as Johnson and Johnson, Samsung SDI, and LEGO, leading a number of marketing programs. She earned an MBA from the Vanderbilt University and received bachelor’s degree from Ewha Women’s University in Seoul, South Korea.
Heath McCullough is entering his fourth year as a Ph.D. student in the Marketing and Supply Chain Management department at the University of Tennessee. Prior to pursuing his doctorate, Heath received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Economics from the University of North Alabama, and earned a Master of Science degree in Marketing Analytics (with an emphasis on data mining and certification in SAS programing) from the University of Alabama.
Heath’s previous work experience includes five years in the U.S. Marine Corps with 1st F.A.S.T. (Fleet Anti-Terrorism Security Team) and 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines Scout Sniper Platoon as a Scout Sniper. Heath served two deployments and completed his military career as an instructor for the 1st Division Pre-Scout Sniper Course.Read more
Leah Smith is a doctoral student in the Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Prior to joining the Ph.D. Program in 2015, Leah worked for seven years in marketing research departments at Altria and Electrolux. Leah holds an MBA from Wake Forest University and a Bachelor of Arts degree at Indiana University.
Leah’s research interests are in consumer behavior, emotional communication and mediated relationships.
Ulrich "Ulli" Schmelzle
With more than 18 years of industry experience, Ulli is familiar with supply management, operations, and logistics planning roles. He has worked as a consultant, entrepreneur, and manager primarily in the semiconductor and aerospace industries. Being a native of Germany, he has visited 23 countries on business and leisure trips so far, and is striving to complete the second dozen as soon as possible.
Ulli joined the department as a Ph.D. student in Supply Chain Management in August 2013. His research interests include innovation-focused supply management, knowledge sourcing, and new product/service development processes.
Ulrich "Ulli" Schmelzle
Annette is a doctoral student in the Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management at the University of Tennessee. Prior to joining the Ph.D. program in 2015, Annette earned a Master degree in Economics from the University of Tennessee, an MBA from Murray State University and a BBA from Austin Peay State University. Her research areas include global marketing strategies, inter- and intra-firm relationships, and innovation as well as quantitative research methods. Her research has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Product Innovation Management. Annette has work experience in PR, sales, and small business development. As a native of Germany, she particularly enjoys travelling, exploring the outdoors, and soccer with her family.
