Affordability continues to be a major hindrance to obtaining health insurance as the percentage of all Tennesseans, adults and children, without coverage increased from 6.7 percent in 2018 to 6.9 percent this year.
The new Knox Promise initiative announced last week will provide additional financial and coaching support to help students succeed in college, and UT’s Boyd Center for Business and Economic Research will study the effects of the new pilot program.
Based on the change in population between July 1, 2017, and July 1, 2018, nine of the 10 cities with the largest gains were in Middle Tennessee. Murfreesboro and Clarksville were the state’s two fastest-growing cities of 2018.
The Spring Hill and Thompson’s Station communities showed the highest growth in the state, according to the American Community Survey (ACS) five-year estimates released by the U.S. Census Bureau on Thursday.
