Avient Corporation Sponsors Career Leadership Day at Haslam

August 20, 2020

The University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s Haslam College of Business is hosting its third annual Career Leadership Day on August 21 for incoming students of its full-time graduate degree programs. Coordinated through Haslam’s Office of Career Management for graduate and executive education, the event is sponsored by Haslam employer partner Avient.

The career day provides Haslam MBA, MSBA and MS SCM TriCon students the occasion to learn about the resources offered by the career management office. It also features a networking reception where students can connect with key officials from Avient, some of whom are alumni.

Tom Taylor, the vice president of global sourcing and logistics for Avient, will provide the afternoon keynote.

Pedro Gonzalez, director of career management for graduate and executive education at Haslam, says that holding events like the Career Leadership Day allows proven employer partners to collaborate with Haslam, giving them earlier and more impactful access to the talent they want to recruit.

“They can come in and network with those students and establish a rapport, which gives them something of a recruiting advantage,” Gonzalez says. “We are fortunate to have strong employer partners to choose from when selecting a sponsor for this special day for our new graduate business students. Avient recruits from among the best universities in the U.S. To have them as corporate partner for Career Leadership Day is a testament to the consistent quality of business talent at Haslam.”
