The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, is observing Graduate and Professional Student Appreciation Week April 7-11, applauding these students for their dedication and effort. With the largest graduate business school enrollment in the state, UT’s Haslam College of Business has 1,052 reasons to celebrate this week. As Haslam MBA candidate Lili Anne McClanahan shares, Haslam’s graduate and professional students also have reason to celebrate being at the college.
“I’m incredibly grateful for my education at the Haslam College of Business because I know that every staff member and professor is invested in my success,” McClanahan says. “Having earned my undergraduate degree and now working toward my MBA from Haslam, I’ve seen firsthand the real-world return on the investment of my education. Haslam truly cares and focuses on each student’s individual growth, and I look forward to leveraging that knowledge to make an even greater impact in the future.”
Haslam Graduate and Executive Education Leaders Express Appreciation
Amy Cathey, Haslam’s associate dean for graduate and executive education, says all involved with the program want to express their appreciation to students like McClanahan for selecting Haslam to help advance their education and careers.
“During Graduate and Professional Student Appreciation Week, we want to thank our students for choosing to be part of the Haslam community,” Cathey says. “It is our pleasure to provide the education, tools and resources for them to engage with the business world, prepared to take on critical roles within their organizations. We are always excited to see where our students’ professional journeys take them upon graduation.”
Mary Goss adds that the program also wants to acknowledge that Haslam’s graduate and professional students give back to the college.
“Haslam students like Lili Anne enhance the college by bringing their varied backgrounds to campus,” Goss says. “They strengthen our programs by sharing these different experiences.”
Graduate and Professional Student Appreciation Week Activities
UT is offering a variety of events during the week to show its appreciation for its graduate and professional students. A full schedule of Graduate and Professional Student Appreciation Week is available on the graduate school website. Further, graduate and professional students can take 20 percent off gift and apparel items from the VolShop. The promotion is available in person at the Student Union and University Commons locations and automatically applied online by logging in with a UT NetID.
In addition to student events, the celebration includes a web page where friends, family members, mentors and others can show support for a graduate or professional student at UT. Select messages may be shared on the graduate school’s social media channels during the week.
