Haslam’s Director Attends Air Force Scholars Conference

November 3, 2015

Andy White, director of the Aerospace & Defense Business Institute at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s Haslam College of Business participated in the National Security Scholars Conference at Duke University on Oct. 27.

Fifteen scholars from universities and think tanks across the country joined Deborah Lee James, Secretary of the Air Force, and selected general officers and airmen for a day of strategic discussions. The event focused on the strategic direction of the Air Force and the service’s contribution to national defense. White attended the event at the invitation of Secretary James.

“It was an honor to participate,” said White. “America’s military leaders understand the importance of public trust and support. Leaders from education and policy can be a great source for objective feedback and strategic dialogue. Events like this help to strengthen the important link between our nation’s military and academia. Our Air Force is the strongest in the world and does great things for America. Unfortunately, the world remains a dangerous place. Air Force leaders have to be very deliberate to make sure we have the world’s greatest Air Force for generations and generations to come.”

The Aerospace & Defense Business Institute is home to a broad family of programs and capabilities serving organizations and professionals from government and private companies all across the industry. Offerings include the Aerospace & Defense MBA: industry-tailored, executive education short courses; and applied research and implementation support.
