Haslam Accounting and Undergraduate Programs Top New Rankings

November 15, 2016

The Haslam College of Business’ undergraduate and accounting programs are among the best in the country, according to two recent rankings.

Poets & Quants listed Haslam’s undergraduate degree 13th among public universities. Haslam ranked 32nd among all institutions and 10th in quality of educational experience. This category depended on a survey of alumni regarding the value of their degree, quality and accessibility of faculty, and opportunities to gain real-world experience.

Steve Mangum, dean and Stokely Foundation Leadership Chair, said that the college’s strong showing in educational experience and high rank overall reflect its ability to prepare students for the business world.

“Our alumni’s experiences after graduation are the truest yardstick of our success as an educational institution,” Mangum said. “To be so highly ranked among business schools is an honor, and to be in the country’s top 10 based on alumni satisfaction demonstrates the efficacy of the education we provide.”

This was Poets & Quants’ first ranking of undergraduate business programs in the United States. The publication assessed schools based on admissions standards and employment statistics in addition to educational experience. The publication also gathered multiple data points in each category and compiled this information into in-depth profiles of each school.

Accounting Degree Review, a resource website for current and prospective accounting and finance students, named both Haslam’s undergraduate and graduate accounting programs in the nation’s top 50.

The website ranked Haslam’s undergraduate program 34th on its Best Undergraduate Accounting Schools Super Ranking for 2017.

The Master of Accountancy at Haslam rose two spots to 32nd on Accounting Degree Review’s list from last year. The website highlighted the program’s three tracks: audits and controls, information management systems and taxation.

Accounting Degree Review is an independent organization that combines the rankings of U.S. News and World Report, Tax Talent and the Public Accounting Report to determine their rankings.
