Haslam Summer Scholars Research Awards Surpass the $1M Funding Mark

June 27, 2018

Now in its fifth year, the Haslam Summer Scholars Research Awards have funded more than $1 million in faculty research. In 2018, a total of more than $400,000 was granted to 20 faculty members to pursue high-quality research, up from six awards at the program’s inception.

“Well over half of the awards this year continue fellowships that began last year, which gets to the heart of their purpose,” Charles Noble, associate dean for research and faculty and the Henry Professor for Business, said. “We want our top researchers to have the resources they need to continue their excellent pursuits.”

Faculty members will hold their research designations for the entirety of the upcoming academic year. The recipients represent every discipline within the Haslam College of Business.

“These types of fellowships are expected in the very best academic business programs,” Noble said. “The donors who help make these awards possible are truly contributing to our mission.”

The program supports the college’s strategic initiative to increase the visibility and impact of knowledge-creation activities. The awards recognize the scholarship of tenure-track faculty members based on their research productivity over the prior three-year period.
