Haslam College of Business - Haslam Undergraduate Program Among Bloomberg Businessweek’s Top 50

Bloomberg Businessweek named the Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, among the nation’s top undergraduate business schools on April 19. Haslam is 40th among public universities.

“Our curricular and co-curricular programs prepare students to step directly into the workforce and make an impact,” said Steve Mangum, dean of Haslam and Stokely Foundation Leadership Chair. “This ranking reflects the regard employers have for our students.”

Bloomberg’s methodology attempts to measure graduates’ career success, relying on surveys from employers and students as well as salary and internship data. Haslam outscored its overall rank both in the average salary of its graduates and in employer surveys.

“Employers who recruit here clearly see the quality of our students as a real asset to their organization,” said Lane Morris, associate dean for undergraduate studies and student affairs at Haslam.

Bloomberg Businessweek began ranking undergraduate business programs in 2006, taking a hiatus in 2015 to retool its methodology. For the 2016 rankings, 30,000 students and almost 600 companies were surveyed. Employer surveys counted for 40 percent of each school’s overall score, student surveys 35 percent, starting salary 15 percent and internships 10 percent.
