Experiential Learning-Fueled Education Attracts Students

Haslam is recognized for providing a top-tier education featuring robust experiential learning components. Lane Morris, associate dean of undergraduate studies and student affairs and John W. Fisher Professor of Innovative Learning, called the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings a reflection of Haslam’s dedication to ensuring students experience a supportive academic culture that offers transformative education.

“The college’s overall performance in the ranking indicates students are drawn to the welcoming environment and high-caliber education Haslam delivers, which also is supported by the college’s dramatic enrollment growth in recent years,” Morris said. “The supply chain management program, well-known for its ongoing leadership in industry and academia, is a source of pride for the college, and it is exciting to see accounting among the top 20 public programs and economics break into the top 40.”

Haslam has experienced unprecedented growth in recent years, with a record-setting total undergraduate enrollment of 9,897 students in 2026. To meet this growing demand, construction is under way on a new business building, Randy Boyd Hall, which is scheduled for completion in 2027.

Graduates Well-Equipped for the Workforce

Stephen L. Mangum, Haslam’s dean and Stokely Foundation Leadership Chair, said the ranking highlights the high-quality academic instruction and invaluable co-curricular activities delivered by Haslam’s faculty and the college’s Office of Undergraduate Programs, which ensure students can make immediate contributions in business upon graduation.

“Our dedicated faculty and staff and highly engaged undergraduate programs office empower our students through rigorous and rewarding assignments and opportunities in the classroom and beyond, which prepare them for the challenges ahead,” Mangum said. “These rankings reflect the impactful knowledge and skills our graduates bring to the workforce.”
