UT’s Haslam MBA Ranks No. 5 Worldwide for Career Services in Major Ranking

June 22, 2022

The Haslam MBA program in the University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s Haslam College of Business rose to No. 5 – up from No. 7 last year – in career services among all colleges around the globe, according to the just-released WhichMBA 2022 MBA and business school rankings from The Economist. The program also climbed two spots – from No. 16 to No. 14 – for its educational experience. The career services ranking is based on alumni appraisals of the program’s quality; the educational experience ranking is based on student assessments of facilities and services, including access to international programs and range of electives available. Overall, UT’s MBA ranked No. 22 in the U.S. among public institutions and No. 70 among all colleges internationally.

“Our MBA’s ranking in career services and educational experience is a tribute to our faculty, staff and administrators’ laser-like focus on making every aspect of the program – from facilities to career counseling to classroom instruction – a seamless experience for our students,” said Mary Goss, the college’s executive director of graduate business programs. “Overall, the rankings show that the value of our MBA is gaining international recognition and that our alumni are appreciative of the support, service and education they receive from Haslam.”

The Economist’s ranking is based on data taken from two surveys. The first covers quantitative factors such as graduate salaries, average GMAT scores and number of registered alumni, which account for around 80 percent of the ranking. The remaining percentage draws on qualitative surveys filled out by current MBA students and the most recent graduating MBA class, rating factors like the quality of the faculty, facilities and career services.

The Economist’s annual MBA ranking is one of the four most highly regarded such assessments, along with U.S. News & World Report, Bloomberg Businessweek and The Financial Times. For more information on the ranking, see The Economist’s WhichMBA methodology.
