VOLstarter brings crowd funding to Haslam

November 19, 2014

Keith Taylor, a 1998 UT alumnus, brought crowd funding to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, with the innovative new website, VOLstarter.utk.edu.

Warren BuffetVOLstarter makes it easy to follow, connect with and support the most innovative and inspiring student, faculty and staff projects at the University of Tennessee and in the Haslam College of Business. Applicants request that their initiatives be featured on the crowd funding site, which allows alumni and friends to support the areas of most interest to them. The most recent Haslam College initiatives featured on the site include supporting student travel to Omaha, Neb., to meet famed investor Warren Buffett, and to the 2015 Super Bowl to work as members of the Big Orange Combine. Both provide valuable experiential learning opportunities for business students.

Donations made via VOLstarter are tax-deductible, and 100 percent goes to the project or initiative chosen by the donor. Featured initiatives vary month to month, so visit VOLstarter often to see the exciting things going on in the Haslam College of Business.

To view VOLstarter initiatives that are associated with our college, visit VOLstarter.utk.edu, choose “Browse Projects” at the top of the page, then “Search for Specific Applications” on the left side, scroll to “College,” and check “Business.”
