Woidtke Named New Head of Finance

profile image of Tracie WoidtkeTracie Woidtke, the David E. Sharp/Home Federal Bank of Tennessee Professor of Banking and Finance, has been named head of the Department of Finance at the Haslam College of Business, effective Jan. 1.

“I feel privileged to be a part of the finance department and welcome the opportunity to serve it and the Haslam College of Business in this new role as we continue to strive together towards excellence,” said Woidtke.

Woidtke joined Haslam in 2003 and has won multiple teaching and research awards during her time at the college. She succeeds Jim Wansley, who has served in the position for more than twenty years.

“Jim is the person who first recruited me to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and he has been an outstanding mentor,” said Woidtke. “Through him, the finance department has made great strides and has the potential to play a key role in the university’s Journey to the Top 25.”

Woidtke teaches finance across all levels within Haslam and has been published in numerous leading finance and accounting journals. She has presented her research on corporate governance at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the Manhattan Institute’s Proxy Monitor Conference, and also has been referenced in numerous reports and articles.
