PEMBA students are fully or partially funded by their employers. While this is not feasible in some cases, we recommend that candidates have a conversation with their employers highlighting a few key points.
Regardless of financial sponsorship, candidates will need some organizational support to participate in the program. That includes time off work during residence periods, honoring the concept of total immersion during those periods and approving OAP and any other applied assignments carried out during the program year.
Return on Investment
Our PEMBA graduates report significant impact to their organizations through the course of the program. The majority of this comes from the thesis-like Organizational Action Project, in which students examine a key area in need of change at their organization and build a plan to improve it.
Haslam’s PEMBA centers around direct application in the workplace and the formality of a degree program forces employees to take the time to execute major projects. Sending top talent to Haslam’s PEMBA often costs less than professional consultation fees that companies pay to fix such issues, and the projects are approached with greater insight and long-term vision.
Supporting students in the PEMBA program is a leadership development and talent retention tool for employers. Healthcare organizations and hospitals note that physicians are grateful and loyal as a result of their support, and students’ project work increases organizational ties.
Global Network of Experts
Pursuing a PEMBA ensures participants engage with peers. Participants have been trained in a similar fashion, share a passion for excellent patient care and struggle with the same issues in healthcare.
Haslam’s physician-only MBA ensures that graduates build a network of 35-45 colleagues who face the same challenges of rapidly changing healthcare regulations and an ever-growing patient base. It’s long history means it also has the largest and most experienced alumni network of any other physician-only MBA.
Haslam has been ranked as the premier program of its kind since its inception 20 years ago. It builds on this foundation every year, constantly researching the field of healthcare and addressing more than two decades of emerging challenges.
Haslam’s PEMBA takes employees out of the office for only four weeks. Participants earn their degree in a single year.
We accomplish this by assigning homework on the job. Students do not follow the traditional approach of learning in a classroom. Our students discuss best practices and strategies in the context of their organization and analyze their own business as part of their assignments.
