Alumni Network
Haslam’s PEMBA program has alumni in 50 states and 11 countries, more cohorts and alumni worldwide than any other physician-only MBA.
We keep these alumni connected after graduation, so they can continue to rely on classmates as a resource, obtain new perspectives and broaden their professional networks.
Our staff sends regular updates on the program and fellow alumni. We also host a number of special events and provide information on continuing education.
Many PEMBA graduates have been promoted since enrollment. Our 736 graduates currently serve in the following physician-leadership positions:
Clinician | 17% |
CMO/VPMA/CMIO/COO | 12% |
Consultant | 1% |
Department, Division, Center Chair or Head | 24% |
Managing Partner | 3% |

Alumni Advisory Council
Each graduating class selects an Outstanding Class Leader and an Outstanding Service to the Class recipient. These individuals are invited to serve on the Alumni Advisory Council. The council meets during the annual Physician Leadership Symposium and virtually (via conference call) one to two times each year. It reviews and suggests marketing strategies and provides insight for curriculum changes.
Events
Policy Immersion Trip - PEMBA alumni are invited to travel with EMBA in Healthcare Leadership students to Washington, D.C. each spring to learn about the intersection of healthcare policy, business and government.
Physician Leadership Symposium - Each April, the Physician Leadership Symposium focuses on the latest research and most pressing issues of the business of medicine. Alumni, students, and visitors gain practical knowledge about what matters most. There are ample networking opportunities with fellow physician leaders and industry recruiters. Registration is complimentary and is one of the ways the program delivers value as a lifelong source of learning.
PEMBA E-newsletter
FOCUS, the PEMBA alumni newsletter, includes announcements on alumni promotions and job changes, thought leadership from Haslam faculty and feature articles on the program. For previous issues of our newsletter or to update your information please contact Tom Brown.
Physician Executive MBA Endowment Funds
Our physician alumni have established a powerful tradition of giving to further the goals of the program. Our Physician Executive MBA Excellence Fund supports the program directly, including research and development. The Dr. Maceo “Mace” Braxton Jr. Outstanding Physician Award Endowment Fund, which was founded as a memorial to a beloved member of the 2007 PEMBA class, is awarded to a deserving individual to support his or her study in the program.
