As part of the PEMBA, students undergo leadership training with a dedicated coach. Each student develops an individual leadership plan with their coach, and retains support from that coach to continue the plan for at least one year after graduation.
Leadership Development Plans Include:
- Personal assessments
- 360-degree feedback
- Group exercises
- Role playing
Physicians work with a faculty mentor to create a personalized leadership development program targeting the student’s individual strengths and weaknesses.
Peer-to-peer relationships contribute significantly to leadership development throughout the program. Each cohort of students becomes a living laboratory for physicians to learn about influencing peers, leading meetings and contributing to healthcare strategy. Alumni often cite these relationships with their classmates as one of the most pivotal aspects of the program, and one that endures long after graduation.
