Career and Technical Education (CTE) is an integral part of public education in Tennessee. There were 56 CTE programs of study available in school year 2022-23, organized by 16 career clusters. About 57% of 12th graders are designated as CTE concentrators, meaning that they have taken at least two courses in a CTE program of study. A three-course sequence additionally satisfies the state’s elective focus requirement for high school graduation. This statistical abstract provides an in-depth overview of CTE course-taking for four recent 12th-grade cohorts: 2019-20 through 2022-23.
