Dariana Martre

"I see my education taking me to the next level. I truly believe that my education will give me the platform I need to excel."

Business Analytics & Statistics - Student

After graduating as valedictorian of her high school, Dariana Martre was determined to find a university with an atmosphere to continue her path of becoming a business professional. She attributes the Haslam College of Business’ principles, networking opportunities, and real-world experiences as leading her to attending the University of Tennessee.

Since beginning her journey at UT in fall 2018, Martre is most proud of being admitted into the competitive Greg and Lisa Smith Global Leadership Scholars Honors Program. This program will compliment her major in business analytics with a concentration in international business by allowing her to learn new cultures when traveling to London this spring to study and intern abroad.

Couple her interest of meeting new people with a passion for social justice and service, and you have found the perfect freshman Orientation Leader. It’s no surprise she thoroughly enjoyed the experience, stating, “I chose to work in this position because… I wanted them {freshman} to know that they always have a person cheering them on to be the best version of themselves in whatever field they choose.”

When asked about her future at UT and after, Martre commented on some of the lessons she’s learned in just one year. “I see my education taking me to the next level,” Martre said. “I’ve learned how to navigate difficult discussions like race and gender equity. I’ve learned how to work cohesively with classmates. I truly believe that my education will give me the platform I need to excel in law school.” After graduation, Martre plans on attending law and graduate school to work toward an MBA and JD simultaneously.
