“I would like to see all of our senior class donate something during our upcoming Senior Impact campaign, not just for recognition, but to understand the fundamentals of why giving back is so important.”

The Air Force Motto, “Aim High…Fly-Fight-Win” is a mantra that Haslam College of Business senior Peggy Fults lives by both in the Air Force Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) and in her supply chain management and marketing courses.

A group commander and four-year member of the ROTC, Fults oversees events and promotes the growth of fellow cadets.

“ROTC has had a big impact on my life and in my time at the University of Tennessee; I am stronger in my leadership skills because of it,” Fults says. “I am very glad UT supports the military on campus, because I wouldn’t be here or have these opportunities without the Air Force.”

Fults is also involved in NeXxus, an organization at the college that connects women in supply chain. Fults says she enjoys being able to tell her colleagues about the great accomplishments of the supply chain programs, most recently the undergraduate program’s rank of no. 3 in the country.

“Our college has a strong connection with big companies that I have been able to learn from regarding each specific industry that I have a future interest in,” Fults says. “It has also set me up for success and provided opportunities to discover what is out there for me after the military.”

Fults plans on spending several years in the Air Force with the goal of making captain and potentially colonel. Afterward, she hopes for either a career in the space or fashion industries, two diverse areas that she is passionate about. Fults’ passion extends even further to the impact that scholarships and alumni support have had on her time at the University of Tennessee.

“Without scholarships I doubt I would have attended UT at all,” she says. “To the alumni that give in any fashion both time and money, thank you. What you do helps students like me achieve our dreams.”

As a member of the Senior Impact Committee, Fults hopes to see all her classmates give back even a small part of what she feels has been provided through attending the Haslam College of Business.

“I would like to see all of our senior class donate something during our upcoming Senior Impact campaign, not just for recognition, but to understand the fundamentals of why giving back is so important,” she says. “I want the alumni to see us not as people who just want scholarship money, but rather an appreciative group of young professionals who want to give back to the college that set us up for success.”
