UT’s Haslam MBA leads nation in GMAT score increase

February 21, 2022

Since Poets and Quants began tracking graduate program GMAT averages in 2016, the University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s Haslam College of Business MBA has shown more growth than any other school’s MBA, public or private.

According to a recent Poets and Quants article, Haslam’s average GMAT score climbed 53 points, from 627 to 680, between 2016 and 2021. This marks the second year in a row that Haslam has topped the country in long-term GMAT score increase.

Bruce Behn, associate dean for Graduate and Executive Education and Deloitte LLP Professor, pointed to alumni’s ongoing support of the program and the staff’s dedication to bringing in high-performing MBA candidates as significant contributors to the improvement in GMAT outcomes.

“The six-year progression in GMAT scores is evidence of all the effort that goes into our program,” Behn said. “Such outstanding results are a product of the increasing availability of scholarships – thanks to the generous donations of our alumni – and the constant work of our directors, faculty and staff to nurture contact with top MBA candidates.”
