Shay Scott

Professor of Practice; Vice Dean & Chief Operating Officer, Digital Learning

Shay Scott serves as vice dean and chief operating officer for Digital Learning at the University of Tennessee. In this capacity, Scott leads the operations and works closely with the dean and CEO to craft and implement strategy. Digital Learning at UT exists to support the University of Tennessee in its educational mission through employment of digital and innovative technologies.

Scott also serves as professor of practice in the Department of Supply Chain Management in UT’s Haslam College of Business. Prior to his current role, he led Haslam’s Global Supply Chain Institute in its work to advance the knowledge and practice of supply chain management.

Prior to joining UT, Scott led the Americas International Logistics organization at Dell, where he had responsibility for Dell’s outbound supply chain from the U.S. to points throughout the world. While at Dell he also held a variety of other positions of increasing responsibility, including a leadership position with Dell’s DSi2 project, which was prominently featured in publications such as the Wall Street Journal and Businessweek. He holds a U.S. patent for innovative supply chain processes developed and implemented globally.

Scott’s research focuses on international business, supply chain management and the future of management education. He has consulted with firms in the high tech, transportation, international logistics and chemical industries.
Since 2014, Scott has also been a visiting faculty member at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Wien).
