Questions & Answers

Haslam College of Business students can schedule an individual advising appointment with an HCB IPSA advisor by following these steps. Appointments open two weeks in advance with new appointment slots added each Monday. Additionally, we offer drop-in advising on Fridays from 9am-3pm in HBB 261 on the mezzanine level for quick questions and follow-ups.

Students are eligible to study abroad any time after completion of their first semester at UT. We advise against studying abroad in your final term if participating in a transfer credit program at a host university since it can take several months to receive transcripts back to UT. Faculty-directed programs include UT credit and therefore may be possible towards the end of a student’s degree plan.

Study abroad is an option for all business majors. Students can take a wide variety of credit abroad including some courses within the Vol Core, lower and upper-division business core, major and collateral/concentration, or minor. To review specific academic plans and to determine what courses are available abroad, students should schedule an appointment with an IPSA advisor. We recommend having that conversation early in a student’s academic career.

No! We partner with host institutions all around the world with extensive course offerings in English. If you do speak a foreign language though, you may be able to take courses in that language as well.

Many times, students are able to use existing financial aid and scholarships towards their study abroad program. Typically to receive financial aid a student will need to be enrolled in the equivalent of full-time credit for that term (12 hours in full semester and 6 hours in summer) and take credit that meets Course Program of Study requirements. Additional study abroad scholarships at the college, university, and national level are available as well.
