The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Haslam College of Business has been named an outstanding business school in the Princeton Review’s annual guide, “The Best 294 Business Schools: 2017 Edition.”
Haslam, as in previous years, was chosen for the distinction based on its MBA program. According to the publishers of the Princeton Review, student surveys and institutional data were taken into account.
Institutional data the Princeton Review based its finding on includes a five-to-one faculty ratio, a 76 percent employment rate three months after graduation and an average starting salary of $79,407. Haslam was rated 91 for its academic experience, 90 for its professors and 94 for the accessibility of its professors.
Students were surveyed about Haslam’s academics, student body and campus life as well as about themselves and their career plans. They described the Haslam MBA as a challenging but rewarding opportunity to join “an institution steeped in tradition and pride” and praised their professors’ commitment to providing an “excellent education at an affordable price” in an “environment that promotes student life.”
“The professors all have lengthy experience working in industry prior to teaching, so the lessons are very well grounded in what actually takes place outside of academia,” one survey respondent said, adding that they “continue to remain active in their previous fields, so they infuse current lessons learned from industry into their classes.”
The Princeton Review is an educational services and evaluation company known for its test-prep courses, university admission services, and its annual college, business and law school rankings. To view the complete rankings, visit the Princeton Review website.
