Biography

Paolo Letizia is the Ball Corporation Professor of Business, a Ray and Joan Myatt Faculty Fellow and an associate professor of operations management and business analytics in the Department of Business Analytics and Statistics at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Haslam College of Business. He conducts research that advances the theory and practice of sustainable operations, with a focus on closed-loop supply chain management, and the operations–marketing and operations–information systems interfaces.

Letizia’s research appears in top journals and outlets such as Management Science, MSOM, POM, Decision Sciences, EJOR, IJAA and Harvard Business Review, with work spanning sustainable supply chains, product customization, returns and green product transitions.

He serves as an associate editor for Decision Sciences, sits on several editorial boards and has led conference tracks on sustainability and closed-loop supply chains. His reviewing has earned multiple journal awards.

At UT, Letizia teaches across undergraduate, graduate, online and executive programs in prescriptive analytics, lean operations and supply chain management, earning strong evaluations and repeated finalist honors for the MBA Best Teacher Award. He previously taught at the Rotterdam School of Management and worked as a senior consultant at Accenture, with research roles at INSEAD and ETH Zurich.
