The 2025 Report describes the latest post-secondary outcomes for Navigate Reconnect, Tennessee’s college coaching and advising program for over-25 and financially independent prospective students. A majority of Reconnectors are women, they are 33 years old on average, and they typically have below-average household income. We follow “Reconnectors” (students who engage with program advisors, called “Navigators”) to observe postsecondary enrollment, persistence in college, and credential receipt, with information on outcomes through the 2023-2024 academic year. See the 2024 annual report for more details on the program’s background.
Reconnector Outcomes: Reconnectors are most likely to enroll in college the year following initial contact with a Navigator, with enrollment rates tapering thereafter. Reconnectors who contacted the program between Fall 2019 and Spring/Summer 2022 were 47.6% likely to enroll in college by 2023-24. Once enrolled, Reconnectors maintain a significant edge over non-participating comparison students in persistence and credential attainment. Focusing on community colleges (where 87% of Reconnectors enroll). Reconnectors are 11 percentage points more likely to remain enrolled than non-participants at the end of 2 years (55 versus 44%). Moreover, Reconnectors are more likely than other over-25 students to have attained a credential at the end of two years (21.2 versus 17.8%). This achievement gap more than doubles by the end of three years of enrollment (33.5 versus 26.3%).
