As many have come to expect from her generation, Kate Athmer craves continuous progress in the workplace. Athmer embraces the millennial label, seeking to help bridge the gaps between a rapidly changing corporate culture and a generation reared on challenging the status quo.
“I want to make a difference in the workforce, and I want to provide career and brand advice for peers, recent graduates and anyone looking to advance,” Athmer says.
Athmer pursues this goal as cofounder of GreenLit Consulting, specializing in professional development for millennials and those who work alongside them. In 2016, she and her partner Rob co-authored and published the book “Millennial Reboot: Our Generation’s Playbook for Professional Growth,” which became a number one Amazon Best Seller.
“We wanted to write a book for millennials on how to succeed within the corporate framework, rather than feeling their only option is to become an entrepreneur,” Athmer says. “Most millennials aren’t ready to be their own boss. So we offer practical tools, tips and tricks to bridge the communication gaps between different workplace mentalities and to pave the way for progress.”
The book provides advice on how to meet corporate expectations without sacrificing authenticity and initiating change within an established corporate framework. They also created the blog www.millennialreboot.com to continually expand the resources available to their audience.
“I want to continue to help fellow millennials find new ways to advance themselves without giving up what makes them so efficiently awesome,” Athmer says.
Efficiency, she believes, is the code word for her generation and the main impact it can make in the business world. In her day job at marketing software company Integrate, she focuses on helping companies automate their lead-generation efforts.
“I am obsessed with efficiency,” says Athmer. “I leverage data and automation technology to ensure leads turn into revenue.”
A graduate of the University of Dayton and MBA from the University of Tennessee, Athmer credits a combination of strong mentors, diverse educational and athletic opportunities, tenacity, and strategic content consumption for her success in the workplace as a millennial.
Outside the office, Athmer supports cancer research through the Tara Miller Melanoma Foundation and makes annual trips to Knoxville for Vols football games.
