The supply chain program at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s Haslam College of Business was ranked third in the world by SCM World’s University 100 today (February 12).

The program climbed from 11th in 2015 to trail only Michigan State and Pennsylvania State this year. University of Tennessee received the top ranking overall in logistics.

“This is a huge leap for our program, but not a surprise,” said Chad Autry, head of the marketing and supply chain department. “Our faculty puts out relevant, innovative research and teaches students to make an impact after graduation. Where we were lacking before was industry exposure, but that is rapidly changing.”

The SCM World University 100 surveyed more than 2,000 supply chain professionals on which institutions graduate the top talent in the industry. Nearly 200 respondents from Asia and 400 from Europe participated, with universities across the globe included in the rankings.

Steve Mangum, dean and Stokely Foundation Leadership Chair of the Haslam College of Business, said the rankings reflect the college’s and UT’s commitment to top-notch and relevant research and teaching.

“Our students very quickly make their mark in industry upon graduation, and businesspeople are taking notice,” Mangum said. “This ranking is particularly validating for our programs since it is voted upon by industry professionals who know first-hand the quality of our student talent and the relevance of our faculty research.”
