Haslam College of Business - Albert Tay

Biography

Albert Tay is a teaching assistant professor in the Department of Accounting and Information Management at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Haslam College of Business. He is an accomplished scholar and information technology and cybersecurity professional with expertise in management information systems, data communications, human-computer interaction and organizational communication. Tay’s research focuses on cybersecurity workforce development, cybersecurity education, infrastructure hardening and the integration of artificial intelligence into cybersecurity practice and education. His work explores innovative approaches to preparing future cybersecurity professionals and strengthening organizational resilience against evolving cyber threats. His research has contributed to advancing cybersecurity education, workforce development, information systems and technology-enabled learning. 

Tay has published in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings and regularly presents at national and international conferences. 

In addition to his academic achievements, Tay is a current member of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency e-Manifest Advisory Board and has significant experience in information technology leadership and operations. He previously managed Utah’s state-wide longitudinal data systems program and oversaw critical infrastructure operations.
