Amy Engstrom Clugg is an assistant professor of practice with the Department of Marketing at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Haslam College of Business. She also serves as the director of the Haslam Honors Discovery Experience. Her career in marketing and advertising spans 30 years, during which she led brands such as Anheuser-Busch, Mars Inc, Mondelēz, McDonald’s, Johnson & Johnson, Dell, SC Johnson, Bridgestone and Amazon AWS. She has served as vice president and managing director at DDB, as well as chief strategy officer at OKRP. She currently leads her own global consultancy and corporate training and development company with Fortune 500 multinational clients across CPG, healthcare, B2B, tech, fashion, retail, computing and transportation. She has worked at the forefront of many of the industry’s most fun and most challenging inflection points, including integrated marketing, branded entertainment, digital, and the democratization of media and commerce. Her teams have earned record sales for their clients, along with the highest industry accolades, including Gold Effies, Gold Clios and the Grand Prix at Cannes.
Because she believes strongly in the transformative power of education, Engstrom also has taught in higher education for most of her career. She has served as an adjunct instructor, advisor and mentor at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, Media and Integrated Marketing Communications and at Elmhurst University School of Business and Economics and in professional education at College of DuPage.
