Eduardo Meléndez is an assistant professor in the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Haslam College of Business.
His research examines how entrepreneurial actors shape market categories by investigating the sociocognitive and sociocultural mechanisms that drive category emergence and evolution. He is currently conducting this research in the empirical setting of electronic dance music using both qualitative and quantitative methods.
Meléndez also conducts research on civic wealth creation and cultural entrepreneurship. His work has been published in leading entrepreneurship and management journals, including the Journal of Management, Academy of Management Perspectives and Entrepreneurship & Regional Development.
Prior to academia, Meléndez accumulated 14 years of entrepreneurial and corporate experience, including founding a social venture in the sports sector, establishing a financial services firm and serving in a C-level executive role at Consorcio Nobis, one of Ecuador’s leading business conglomerates.
