George Ostrouchov

Adjunct Research Professor

George Ostrouchov is an adjunct research professor in the Department of Business Analytics and Statistics at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Haslam College of Business. He served as a distinguished research staff member in the mathematics in computing section of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s computer science and mathematics division until 2023. Ostrouchov is recognized for his contributions to statistical computing, particularly on HPC systems. In 2012, he founded the Programming with Big Data in R (pbdR) project, a set of highly scalable R packages for distributed and parallel computing and profiling in data science. Currently, he is mentoring HPC-related data science projects and teaching HPC in R data science classes.
