Women outnumbered men in U.S. colleges and universities for the first time in 1979, and the gap has been growing ever since. In this report, we review enrollment and employment trends among young adults, investigate factors that might be responsible for differences in college enrollment between men and women, and conclude with a deeper dive into how young adults spend their time.
