In the Haslam College of Business, we bear the torch of knowledge to facilitate learning through action. Guided by core values of Integrity, Insight, Inclusivity, and Impact, we create, share, and apply knowledge to foster a dynamic and innovative business ecosystem and a more just, prosperous, and sustainable society.
Our core customers are the businesses of Tennessee and the world. To serve them well, we impact society in three interconnected ways:
Nurturing Talent
We develop workforce-ready graduates whose education is grounded in ethical integrity, improvement-minded critical thinking, and an action-oriented spirit of volunteerism. Our graduates lead with values, and we measure success through placement rates, indicators of job quality, geographic reach, and career progression across industries and communities.
Advancing Thought Leadership
Our faculty produce forward-looking research that demonstrates the compatibility of business success and societal prosperity. We illuminate responsible approaches to planning, sourcing, production, logistics, finance, reporting, innovation, and consumption across key industries, including healthcare and aerospace. We measure impact by the frequency with which our scholarship shapes academic conversations and applied practice.
Instilling the Volunteer Spirit
We extend our expertise beyond campus to create practical value for Tennessee and beyond. Through partnerships with industry, government, and nonprofits, Haslam faculty and students apply knowledge to real-world challenges by supporting small businesses, expanding access to healthcare, increasing business acumen, and advancing economic growth across the state.
Through these efforts, we provide students with the skills, experience, and ethical grounding to lead; deliver businesses the talent and insight they need to thrive; and strengthen communities through outreach, partnerships, and a more resilient economic ecosystem.
Every decision Haslam makes, in curriculum design, pedagogy, scholarly work, or community engagement, creates ripples that reach our students, businesses, and our external communities. By sustaining these commitments, we demonstrate that business is not only an engine of economic growth but also a powerful force for improving quality of life and supporting community development in Tennessee and across the world.
