The Executive MBA program (EMBA) in the University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s Haslam College of Business rose from No. 14 in 2023 to No. 12 among U.S. public universities and remained at No. 31 among all U.S. schools in the London-based Financial Times’ latest executive MBA rankings.
This marks the fifth consecutive year Haslam’s EMBA has been included in the major international ranking. Haslam’s overall ranking is based on combined data from three EMBA tracks: global supply chain, healthcare leadership and strategic leadership, as well as college-wide faculty and research data.
Indicators of Achievement
One of the most well-respected rankings in the world, the Financial Times’ top EMBA compilation ranks programs using multiple criteria. These include alumni salaries, alumni satisfaction and faculty research productivity, among other factors. Haslam EBMA alumni satisfaction ranked No. 2 among publics while their average salary three years after graduation is $253,608. Haslam ranked No. 53 in faculty research, up from No. 60 last year.
Faculty research productivity rankings are calculated according to the number of articles published by a school’s current full-time faculty members in 50 academic and practitioner journals from January 2022 to May 2024.
Equipping Students to Deliver Value to Their Companies
According to Amy Cathey, Haslam’s associate dean for graduate and executive education, Haslam’s five-year presence in the rankings reflects the program’s ongoing efforts to ensure each new EMBA cohort graduates with the skills and knowledge to lead their organizations in highly competitive industries.
“Our faculty and staff work tirelessly to provide the most current, relevant and hands-on learning experience possible,” she said. “The business professionals who choose Haslam to advance their careers know they are undertaking a program that understands their professional commitments and will enhance their contributions. The expertise they are gaining in the program enables them to immediately deliver meaningful results to their organizations while still pursuing their degrees.”
Colleges of business elect to participate in the Financial Times’ Executive MBA ranking, but their Executive MBA programs must meet certain criteria to be eligible, including being accredited by either the U.S.’s Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business or Europe’s Equis. Also, the Executive MBA must be cohort-based, with at least 30 students enrolling and graduating together each year and must have been operating for at least three years.
