Biography

Marc “Tony” Via is the director of undergraduate programs and a teaching associate professor in the Department of Finance at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Haslam College of Business. He joined the department in 2023 after serving as a faculty member at Kent State University for nine years.

Via’s research interests include corporate governance, institutional ownership, financial analysts, innovation, political contributions and corporate social responsibility. His research has been published in European Financial Management, the Journal of Corporate Finance and the Journal of Financial Research, among others, and has been featured on Columbia University’s Blue Sky Blog. Via also authored the final chapter of an Oxford University Press textbook titled “Understanding Investment Risk and Return.” He has provided financial media expertise for U.S. News and World Report, ABC News – Cleveland OH and WalletHub.

He currently teaches financial management and financial statement analysis for standard and honors track students.
