Bloomberg Market Concepts

Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC) is an eLearning course that provides an interactive introduction to financial markets. It explores the global financial system and economy through four modules: economics, currencies, fixed income and equities.

The course is woven together from Bloomberg data, news, analytics and television and includes approximately 120 exercises, including quizzes at the end of each section. BMC is professionally produced, and participants receive a certificate of completion directly from Bloomberg at the conclusion of training. Students learn more than 70 Bloomberg terminal functions, but access to a terminal is not required.

Requirements

Technical: Students do not need to come to the Master’s ILC to complete BMC — they only need access to a computer with internet connection.

Cost: The Masters ILC provides a partial sponsorship of training for qualified students, making the cost to UT students $50 if taken as part of a finance course and $100 on its own. The regular price for BMC is $150 for academic users and $250 for professionals. Fees are non-refundable.

Prerequisite Skills: BMC is open to all majors and all program levels and is useful for all business students. Haslam students are required to complete training as part of FINC 301/307; if students choose to take the training before enrolling, their scores can be transferred at a later date.

Completion: Participants must complete all the modules and answer all questions to earn full credit, although there is no penalty for incorrect answers.
