Program Overview
The Supply Chain Student Excellence Awards recognize students within the Department of Supply Chain Management at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Haslam College of Business who demonstrate outstanding personal and professional development beyond the classroom. The awards celebrate these students for their character, drive, leadership and community impact.
Eligibility & Application Guidelines
- Open to sophomores, juniors and seniors
- Students may apply for only one award category per academic year; multiple applications in a single year will not be accepted
- Students may receive a specific award only once during their undergraduate career (e.g., if a student receives the Leadership Award as a sophomore, they cannot receive the Leadership Award again as a junior)
- Students are encouraged to apply for a different award category in future years if their experiences and achievements align with another category
- Students must submit an individual application for the category that best represents their achievements for that year
Application Process
Interested students should complete the following application process:
- Review award categories and select the one that best reflects contributions for the current academic year
- Complete the online application form
- Submit the application by the stated deadline (February 27, 2026); late applications will not be considered
Award decisions are final. Recipients will be notified via email before public announcements.
The Supply Chain Student Excellence Awards are given to multiple award winners for each of the three class levels.

Student Excellence Awards
Award Categories & Specific Criteria
1. Supply Chain Community-Builder Award (Engaged Student)
This award recognizes students who foster a sense of belonging among others and regularly attend different types of department events (e.g., forums, workshops, panels, networking events) within an academic year.
Eligibility Criteria
- Students must have attended at least five different supply chain management department events within the current academic year
- Attended events should represent different types (e.g., workshop, networking event, career panel, forum or employer session)
- Students should demonstrate efforts to build community by encouraging peers to engage or sharing event takeaways
2. Supply Chain Innovator Award (Entrepreneurial Student)
This award recognizes students who demonstrate a strong entrepreneurial spirit, whether through launching a business within two years of this application, participating in pitch competitions in the current academic year or driving innovation within a student org in the current academic year
Eligibility Criteria
- Students must have demonstrated entrepreneurial initiative in launching a business, developing an innovative project or participating in pitch competitions or innovation incubators
- Students must clearly articulate the impact, progress and vision of their entrepreneurial work
3. Supply Chain Impact Award (Volunteer Student)
This award recognizes students who use their time and skills to give back to the community via significant volunteer involvement, both on and off campus.
Eligibility Criteria
- Students must demonstrate volunteer involvement for a minimum of five hours per week in one or more non-profit organizations, on or off campus, during the current academic year
- Students should demonstrate a commitment to service and making a positive impact on the community
4. Supply Chain Resilience Award (Hustler Student)
This award recognizes students who balance one or more part-time jobs, totaling at least 30 hours, with academic success, demonstrating resilience, time management and determination
Eligibility Criteria
- Student must have held one or more part-time jobs totaling 30 hours during the current academic year while maintaining academic success
- Students should demonstrate resilience, time management and determination through balancing work and studies
5. Supply Chain Leadership Vanguard Award (Leadership Excellence)
This award recognizes students who held multiple leadership positions across student organizations, the classroom or community service.
Eligibility Criteria
- Students must have held at least two leadership positions within student organizations, classroom initiatives, volunteer roles or professional organizations during the current academic year
- Students should demonstrate influence, collaboration and organizational leadership
6. Supply Chain Global Citizen Award (Global Student)
This award recognizes students who have engaged in international learning, study abroad opportunities or intercultural campus initiatives.
Eligibility Criteria
- Students must have engaged in at least two international learning experiences including study abroad programs, international internships or intercultural campus initiatives during the current academic year
- Students should demonstrate cultural awareness and global mindedness
