Metastatic Breast Cancer Research & Classroom Teaching

Join Allen Pannell, Amy Foster Memorial Research Fellow, as he presents his research on metastatic breast cancer and how it has shaped his work as a business analytics lecturer. His research focuses on a critical decision faced by 30 percent of metastatic breast cancer patients — one that can impact life expectancy by up to two years in a disease with a median survival of just two years.

Pannell’s research began with an observational study suggesting that current standards of care may be flawed. While correlation cannot prove causation, he designed a clinical trial to explore causal effects. These research experiences have also informed key aspects of how he teaches future business analytics professionals.
