UT’s Haslam College of Business placed at No. 24 among U.S. public business schools in the latest Bloomberg Businessweek Best B-Schools 2024-25.

September 20, 2024

The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Haslam College of Business placed at No. 24 among U.S. public business schools in the latest Bloomberg Businessweek MBA program rankings. Haslam landed at No. 53 among all business schools nationally — climbing 10 spots from 2023 — and ranked No. 39 in the networking subcategory.

Business Education Tailored to Success

According to Mary Goss, the college’s executive director of graduate business programs, Haslam’s MBA program heavily emphasizes qualities Bloomberg considers when formulating its rankings.

“The Haslam College of Business strives to prepare our graduates to fill high-level jobs where they are ready to contribute on day one, which is largely what Bloomberg’s rankings reflect,” Goss says. “To that end, our students are immersed in experiential learning focused on real business problems provided by our corporate associates. They explore networking opportunities with corporate partners, other prospective employers, alumni and fellow students. They participate in extracurricular activities through student organizations, internships and more. They also engage in career development and management guidance with multiple touchpoints.”

About Bloomberg Businessweek’s Rankings

To determine its rankings, Businessweek surveyed 292 students who graduated from October 1, 2023, through September 30, 2024, as well as 9,222 alumni who graduated from October 1, 2015, through September 30, 2018. The magazine also surveyed 734 employers who recruited MBA graduates for full-time positions between 2021 and 2023. The survey questions explored elements such as school quality and depth and range of instruction, curriculum applicability to real-world business situations, emphasis placed on strategic thinking, problem solving and innovation, inspiration and support from instructors and class size and collaboration. To rank the schools, Bloomberg Businessweek entered the survey data into five indexes intended to represent fundamental elements of a business school education: compensation, learning, networking, entrepreneurship and diversity. The magazine then developed its overall score for each school in the ranking. For more information, review the complete Bloomberg Best B-Schools 2024-25 ranking methodology.
