First-year students can apply for signature programs that help them build community inside and outside the classroom as well as peer support networks for their academic studies.

Venture LLC is an opportunity for first-year business students to live together, attend business classes together and connect with and serve the greater Knoxville community together. Students build an instant support network for studies and for years beyond.

Haslam offers two study abroad programs in either Colombia or Costa Rica exclusively for freshmen in the college. Each one-week program focuses on impact of culture and government on the local business environment and economy.

The Takeoff Program is a year-long program in which first-year students receive targeted guidance as they transition into the university and Haslam College of Business.
Students participate in Haslam’s honors and signature programs starting in their second year. During the spring semester of the first year, students will apply through a competitive admissions process.
Smith GLS, the Haslam College of Business’ official honors program, promotes international awareness, leadership and personal and professional growth through honors classes, seminars in leadership training, international experiences and extracurricular activities.
Heath IBEP unites business and engineering students to broaden their focus, developing leaders who think strategically, overcome organizational silos, deliver business solutions and create real value. The program differentiates graduates in the job market and accelerates their careers by emphasizing an interdisciplinary mindset that sets them apart from their peers.
The Business Fellows Honors Program is designed to provide intellectual challenge for high-achieving, academically minded students enrolled in the Haslam College of Business. The program provides both curricular and co-curricular activities for student engagement.
