First-year students can apply for signature programs that help them build community inside and outside the classroom as well as peer support networks for their academic studies.
Venture Living Learning Community
Venture LLC is an opportunity for first-year business students to live together, attend business classes together and connect with and serve the greater Knoxville community together. Students build an instant support network for studies and for years beyond.
First Year Experience
Haslam has two study abroad programs conducted in Cuba and Costa Rica each year that only accept first-year business school students. The programs last two weeks and focus on how culture and government affect business practices.
TakeOff Program
The TakeOff Program helps first generation college students transition into the university and Haslam College of Business with community-building, peer mentors, professional development and financial incentives.
Honors & Signature Programs
Students participate in Haslam’s honors and signature programs starting in their second year. During the spring semester of the first year, students will apply through a competitive admissions process.

Smith GLS, the Haslam College of Business’ official honors program, promotes international and intercultural awareness, leadership and personal and professional growth through honors classes, seminars in leadership training, international experiences and extracurricular activities.
Heath Integrated Business & Engineering Program Heath Integrated Business & Engineering Program
The Heath IBEP unites students and knowledge in UT’s Tickle College of Engineering and Haslam College of Business. Students in the program will develop communication skills and understand how decisions affect the entire organization.
Business Fellows Business Fellows
The Business Fellows Honors Program is designed to provide intellectual challenge for high-achieving, academically minded students enrolled in the Haslam College of Business. The program provides both curricular and co-curricular activities for student engagement.
