The Haslam Global Launch Scholarship Program provides students with opportunities to expand their knowledge of international business with hands-on projects while also securing a scholarship for future study abroad. Participants can choose from a research project or the international business case competition team.
Center For Global Engagement
Study Abroad Scholarships
The Center for Global Engagement (CGE) Study Abroad Undergraduate Scholarship provides awards to degree-seeking undergraduate UT students participating in credit-bearing, pre-approved programs abroad to assist with program-related fees and expenses related to studying abroad. These one-time scholarships are granted based on financial need and destination of study.
Study Abroad
External Scholarships
Students are encouraged to apply to externally funded study abroad scholarships, such as the Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship and the Boren Awards. Funding amounts and requirements range depending on the scholarship, so students are encouraged to explore different options to find the perfect match to their program. External scholarships may be used with Haslam Undergraduate Study Abroad Scholarship.

Program Costs
It is important to consider all costs when choosing a study abroad program.
Faculty-Directed Programs
For the Spring I & Spring Break/Spring II & Mini-Term programs, tuition and fees will be rolled into the spring semester tuition. For mini-term and summer programs, costs will be assessed through myUTK. Expense details are provided at Programs Abroad Office. Students will be charged the university’s study abroad fee of $175 in addition to the deposit.
Program Fee
This fee will vary by program but includes all compulsory group expenses such as accommodations, in-country transportation, tours/excursion and some group meals over the dates of the program. Check out Haslam’s faculty-directed programs to determine each program’s cost.
International Airfare
International airfare is not included in tuition and fees. Program faculty will advise their students on how to purchase airline tickets and make their own travel schedules available. Students may travel with faculty or fly on their own. In many cases, students may be able to arrive early or stay longer in the destination country, as long as they arrive to their program on time and remain through the full duration.
Affiliate Programs
Affiliate program costs are not paid through myUTK but instead to the affiliate provider. Check with the program to understand what the fees cover, but typically the total amount will cover tuition and fees, housing, on-site support, visa assistance and some programmatic activities. Affiliate programs will not, however, cover international airfare, personal expenses and meals. Students will also be charged the university’s study abroad fee of $175 and an international insurance fee.
Direct Enroll Programs
Direct enroll programs are different from an exchange program in that students pay program fees directly to the host institution. The only cost that will be billed to myUTK will be the $175 study abroad fee and international insurance.
Exchange Programs
Exchange programs offer students a unique cost model for study abroad programs. With exchange partners, students pay UT tuition, the study abroad fee and international insurance to cover the cost of the program. These fees are paid directly to myUTK. Housing will not typically be billed to myUTK. Please refer to the program’s cost sheet for a full breakdown.
Academic Internships
Academic internship programs function very similarly to a UT faculty-directed or exchange program in that all tutition and program fees will be charged to myUTK. The program fee will also include housing, but will not include flight, meals or personal expenses. Please refer to the program’s cost sheet for full details.
